Budding engineers in Year 5

Our budding engineers in Year 5 enjoyed a talk from Sergeant Phil Cooper, a Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineer from the British Army, ahead of their entry into the Leaders Award Primary Engineer competition.

The competition invites children in primary schools to interview an engineer, identify a problem, draw and annotate a solution to it and explain why their solution should be manufactured by engineers.

Sergeant Cooper has travelled the world in his role, engineering equipment such as trailers to transport the injured to safety in Iraq.

He inspired us in our own engineering designs to solve everyday problems for the competition. One great example is Joe Lawson, who plans to create a bug catching robot to keep critters out of his house in the summer.

Good luck to all of our Year 5 pupils and thank you to Sargent Cooper for coming into school.
