Earlier this year, with support from our sponsors, the North East Learning Trust, we installed a £43,000 top-spec outdoor play area for the youngest children in our school... and it's proving to be a big hit!
Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, not many of our children were at school and able to use the area when it was first built... that is until now. So now that we are all back, we've taken our trusty school camera out to capture some of the happiness and give everyone a closer look at this fantastic new facility.
Featuring a broad range of exciting and engaging outdoor equipment, the well-planned new space rolls play and learning into one in a safe environment.
For us adults, the equipment is designed to encourage children to work together and to solve problems whilst developing key motor skills. The outdoor nature of the learning also benefits their physical health and their personal development... however all the children know is that they are having fun!
All areas of learning are taught, enjoyed, applied and learned through purposeful play - including creativity, understanding words, communication and language, and even maths!
The key features of the area include a water wall, a mud kitchen, a creative area, a road way to zoom along and physical blocks (the kids' favourite!), a planting area, a huge sand pit and some giant musical instruments.
