Yesterday our Key Stage 2 children virtually took part in the Durham Book Festival.

The group watched a live stream from children’s author, Chris Callaghan, who read an extract from his book, The Great Chocoplot. Our pupils found out how Chris came up with the plot and were horrified to find out that in the story, chocolate may run out across the world.

At the end of the session, Chris answered a range of questions that our school had submitted. Our children were fascinated to learn about how the publishing process works and how Chris became inspired to become an author, as well as getting tips for their own writing.

Sophie said: “I liked that we got a sneak peek of the opening of the book.” Amelia added: “Chris was funny because he was using lots of made-up vocabulary.”
