Yesterday morning, a group of children from Key Stage 2 had the wonderful opportunity of video-calling the current speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

The children asked a range of interesting and thought-provoking questions and learned about what it is like to hold the role of the speaker.

Through asking lots of brilliant questions, the children discussed topical issues such as homelessness, Brexit and school funding with Sir Hoyle.

In the past week, our children have had their voices heard both in the House of Lords and the House of Commons!

Ava said: "I found Mr Speaker interesting to listen to as it was an experience that not many people have the opportunity to take part in."

Oliver said: "I thought it was really educational. I found out a lot of facts about parliament that I did not know already and my knowledge of politics has grown."
