Today everyone has celebrated International Women's Day in school, talking about the importance of equal opportunities and why it is important to mark International Women's Day.

Each year group focused on a different woman from history - finding out why they are significant and the character traits they displayed.

Lennon said: "I think this day shows respect to women and shows that you can do whatever you want - regardless of your gender. We learned about Sophie Blanchard - the first female aeronaut. Her determined and brave character ensured she was successful in her endeavours."

Lexi said: "It is important that we celebrate International Women's Day as women and girls do not always get equal opportunities."
