The beginning of the second summer half term means that Reception have kicked off their exciting new topic, 'Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside' with a tasty beginning.
After reading 'The lighthouse keeper's lunch' by Ronda and David Armitage, the children learnt all about lighthouses and the job of lighthouse keepers. To show off their creativity, the class made their own fruit lighthouses from banana and watermelon - they look brilliant!
Their culinary skills didn't stop there... Reception developed their instruction writing skills by making a lighthouse sandwich and carefully writing the steps down from spreading the butter, chopping tomatoes, filling their bread with tasty ingredients and sitting down for a proper lighthouse lunch.
