World Mental Health Day

As many of you will know, yesterday was World Mental Health Day so here at Sacriston Academy, our children and staff spent the afternoon taking part in a carousel of activities to promote positive wellbeing and the importance of looking after your mental health.

The children had the opportunity to join in with yoga, meditation, mindfulness colouring, games and 'dough disco'. As well as having fun in the activities, the children were presented with strategies that they could use both inside and outside of school to aid their mental health and wellbeing.

Tilly, Year 6 said: "The activities made me feel calm. I really liked the yoga and now I can do it at home too"

Elysia, Year 6 said: "It's made me feel happy and it gave me time to talk and think about my own mental health."

Ewan, Year 5 said: "I enjoyed taking part in the different activities and I like how the word is mind-FULL-ness, however, the goal is to empty your mind."
