Pupils commemorate Remembrance Day

Date Published:
Monday 11 November 2019

As part of our commemoration of Remembrance Day, we were delighted to welcome Major Bartlett into school who talked to our children about Remembrance Day. Our children listened, were very respectful and asked lots of thoughtful questions.

Yesterday, our Year 5 and 6 Rights Respecting Ambassadors represented our school at St. John’s Church for the Remembrance Day service. During the service, our pupils read the poem Flanders Fields and laid a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of all our pupils, staff and families.

2019 marks 100 years since the first two-minute silence was observed on Armistice Day, 11 November 1919. This year we are asking the nation to pause - mute your phone, close your laptop, switch off the tv – for just two minutes and pay your respects to our Armed Forces community, past and present. Our school will join together today for the two-minute silence.
