This week our pupils have been getting political as part of UK Parliament Week (UKPW). The week is an annual festival for people across the country to engage with UK Parliament to help empower them to get involved. We have been participating in a range of activities this week that celebrate democracy, from debating issues and holding votes to campaigning for change.
We got off to a flying start with Year 6 pupils creating their own political parties. Children named their party, wrote their own manifestos with election promises and created promotional photos ready for the big vote that took place at the end of the week.
Midweek they began their brilliant campaign trail before nervously waiting for the results to come in on Friday. At the end of the week, 179 votes were counted and the winners were...the Lightening party!
The full voting results are as follows...
Energy: 17 votes
Helpful: 20 votes
Shine: 28 votes
Power: 36 votes
Lightning: 78 votes
