This week the whole school have been busy with various activities to mark Anti-Bullying Week!
Here's what all the classes have been up to...
Nursery
In Nursery, the class have been listening to a story all about bullying and the different ways we can 'reach out'. The group participated in discussions around different scenarios where they identified what they must do if it happened in school.
Reception
The class have been learning all about how to say 'No' to bullying and how we can help our friends to make good choices in. In Reception we have been creating odd socks to show that we are all different and all special.
Year 1
Year 1 have been discussing who they can go to when they need to talk and tell someone how they are feeling. The group joined in with the Speak Out Stay Safe assembly from the NSPCC to be reminded that they are special and just as important as everyone else in the world. The class drew a picture expressing their kind and helpful ideas through art.
Year 2
Year 2 also joined in with the Speak out Stay Safe assembly from the NSPCC to be reminded of just how important they are. We talked about how when we see others upset or in need of help, we should always support them. Similarly, if we see behaviour we know is not right, we have a responsibility to report it and model good friendship. This prompted the group to check that they knew which adults in our life were there for us to turn to if they had a worry about a friendship or an issue, so the group created a map to show the things they like to share with friends and the adults they know could help them along the way.
Year 3
Year 3 thought about how they can promote and show kindness to each other. The group were given a yellow slip and wrote about how someone in the class has shown kindness to them recently, and worked together to turn their slips into a 'kindness' paper chain. This will be hung in the classroom, as a reminder that it's always great to be kind!
Year 4
Year 4 put their knowledge into practise! The group worked together in role play to act out different scenarios. The children took on the roles of bullies and victims and spoke out about who they could reach out to, if bullying took place.
Year 5
Year 5 looked at a range of scenarios of bullying. The group had to identify what bullying was taking place and who the victim could have spoken to about it. Year 5 have consolidated their understanding of who talk to if they are being bullied.
Year 6
Year 6 have thought about who they would reach out to if they were worried about something, what that person might do to help them and also how they would feel after they had been given advice and support. The class were given strips of paper and were asked to write down their thoughts, as well as the person they would turn to. After that, the group linked their chains together to represent linking people and ideas together and reflected the positive contributions they could have on each other's lives.
Well done everyone!
