Odd Socks Day

Children are invited to come to school wearing odd socks today to express themselves and appreciate individuality and uniqueness as part of Anti-Bullying Week 2017.

Anti-Bullying Week, coordinated by the Anti-Bullying Alliance takes place this year from 13 - 17 November across the UK. Our children will participate in a range of activities across the week linked to the theme 'All Different, All Equal'.

At Sacriston Academy we believe it is important:

  • to empower children and young people to celebrate what makes them, and others, unique
  • to help children and young people understand how important it is that every child feels valued and included in school and able to be themselves
  • to encourage parents and carers to work with their school and talk to their children about bullying, difference and equality
  • to enable teachers and other children’s workforce professionals to celebrate what makes us ‘all different, all equal’ and celebrate difference and equality. Encouraging them to take individual and collective action to prevent bullying, creating safe environments where children can be themselves.

We look forward to sharing our photographs of our colourful and unique socks on our new school website.  Who knows which class can take the most interesting photos of their socks in action?
