Earlier this week, Year 5 visited the new creative department at The Durham Federation, a secondary school in Durham. Pupils enjoyed a tour of their new facilities before taking part in Easter-themed activities.
In the morning, pupils headed to design and technology to learn a new skill; weaving. They used their new knowledge to turn strips of old newspaper into their own Easter baskets.
The second part of the day saw pupils head to the kitchen to make hot cross buns. Within the session, pupils learnt the importance of health and safety and discussed the possible risks and hazards. Pupils identified which ingredients they would need to use and discussed the science behind baking.
Then it was time for the fun! Pupils added the ingredients together and got their hands messy creating the scrumptious hot cross buns.
Thank you to The Durham Federation for having us and well done to Year 5 who represented Sacrison Academy amazingly.
