Anti bullying

National Anti-Bullying week is in full swing and Key Stage 2 have been busy completing a range of anti-bullying themed activities...

Year 3 completed a series of activities that focussed on what they think bullying is, what it looks like and how to stop it. The class drew an image of what a bully looks like to them and thought about the stereotypes they were using. Finally, they created a series of bullying freeze-frames and came up with strategies to resolve the issue if they saw it happening on the playground.

Year 4 discussed what was meant by bullying. The year group talked about bullying being something that occurs on a regular basis as opposed to one-off incidents. Year 4 drew around their hands and, in the fingers, added 5 ways they could prevent bullying in our school.

Over in Year 5, the group took part in a BBC live lesson where they learnt the importance of being kind and what to do when you think someone is being unkind. After that, Year 5 focused on the theme of this year, one kind word. The children each chose a positive word carefully, before colouring them in and delivering them to their peers.

Our eldest children in Year 6 focussed on the impact of bullying through digital literacy in their reading lessons. After watching Wing, a story of a one-winged creature who is bullied for being different, the children thought about how the character would have felt and the impression they were given of the bullies.

We can't wait to see what they get up to for the rest of the week...
