International Children's Book Day saw each class delve into the world of A.A.Milne to find out how the Winnie the Pooh characters can help us understand different aspects of mental health.
At Sacriston Academy we make sure to support each other and give everyone a voice. So, each class worked together to display some advice and guidance on how to promote good mental health.
Here's what they got up to...
Reception and Nursery created bees to swarm around a honey pot, after discussing how teamwork can build good friendships.
Year 1 created a Sacriston Piglet, donning his own purple jumper!
Year 2 gave advice to those feeling sad, homesick or anxious as some Winnie the Pooh characters display these traits.
Year 3 and 4 sketched characters and wrote up ideas to improve their mood, creating a diary entry from the characters' perspective to really understand how they were feeling.
Year 5 and 6 created Winnie the Pooh stories and self-help guides for those in need of a pick me up!
