Science Week

Year 6 had great fun during Science Week when they took part an 'active adaptations' lesson. The children started by discussing what an adaption was and watched some videos of Sir David Attenborough who explained it in different ways. Following this, each child designed a paper moth which was meant to Camouflage into the classroom environment. The moths were then hunted by Mr Golding who wasn't able to spot them all!

Following on from adaptation, the class looked at how it links to evolution and discussed Darwin's theory of 'survival of the fittest'. The class played a game to solidify their learning which involved finding items to use as a beak, locating food sources and using their beaks to see who could eat enough food to survive! It was a lot of fun and really helped pupils to understand the concepts of adaption and evolution.
