Virtual school

Hello and welcome to all our Sacriston Academy pupils and their families. On Monday, we launched our new virtual school and all of our staff have been working incredibly hard to be able to give you as much access to online learning as possible, setting you specific tasks and finding ways we can respond to each other. It’s amazing to see how far we have come in only a few days and I am sure it will only further improve.

For those of you with Facebook, please share your work on our page, it is so lovely to see our pupils' smiling faces and sharing their learning. We are hoping to set a range of fun tasks that everyone can join in with over the coming weeks.

To all our parents and carers – you are doing an amazing job! While the circumstances of staying at home are hard for your child to understand, it gives a wonderful opportunity for our families to learn together. Read or listen to lots of stories and keep your imaginations alive. Sing and dance, play games or bake. When this is all over our children will learn that during this difficult time, their families played with them, distracted them and loved them. They will remember this as a fun time, rather than a scary one.

I am missing our Sacriston Star smiles every day! Don’t forget our school rules still apply even when you’re at home, they help us strive to be the very best we can be.

  1. Be honest
  2. Be respectful
  3. Care for others
  4. Listen to and value other opinions

The sun has started to shine this week, make sure you get into your garden or yard and get some fresh air too, practise your football, cricket, netball or tennis skills. Let us know if you have achieved something wonderful, we would love to see!

In the meantime, please stay home, protect our NHS and save lives.

Please take care and stay safe everyone!

Mrs Bartlett
